We are Wales’ top award-winning attraction.

There are two different areas, both undercover, allowing children to ‘race’ around the themed Jurassic Karting Track, or explore the indoor adventure paradise of slides, rope climbs, tunnels and aerial walkways that is Barney's Adventure Playground.

Children must be supervised in these playgrounds. There are viewing areas, and seats for adults to use, whilst the younger ones are using up some energy before the trip home! Cool in the summer heat, and dry when the weather is not so kind, these play areas are fantastic fun for all*.

*Age restrictions apply – Jurassic Karting Track ages 3 – 6 years, Barney’s Adventure Playground 6 – 10 years.

The Showcaves are a constant 10°C, so an extra layer is advisable, especially if it is warm outside. Although there are good pathways throughout the Showcaves, sensible sturdy footwear is advisable.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to access the caves with a pram or a pushchair due to the layout and the number of steps underground. However, hundreds of babies visit the Showcaves every year and the ‘sling’ or ‘wrap’ style baby carriers seem to be a popular choice.

We suggest you allow a minimum of 2½ - 3 hours.

Sorry, but the natural layout of the Showcaves means there are a number of steps and slopes which have to be negotiated, making it unsuitable for wheelchairs. Please click here to read our Accessibility Statement.

All the Showcaves are self-guided. Commentaries play within the 3 Showcaves at selected points. This allows you to enjoy the visit at your own speed.

Friendly family dogs are permitted into the Showcaves, but dogs must be on a short lead at all times, with owners having 'doggy bags'. Dogs are NOT permitted into our Coffee Shop, or the Shire Horse Centre area where the Farm, Play Areas and Millennium Stone Circles are situated. Please note - we will refuse entry/ask you to return your dog to your car should they become unsettled whilst on site.

Yes. However, the use of selfie sticks, tripods, etc. is not permitted underground.

Yes, we have our own caravan/tenting park with full facilities. There are also self-catering units on site – Brecon Beacons Resort – which can be booked via Hoseasons.

Yes, we have large car and coach parking areas. These are free to all our guests who visit the Showcaves.

Yes, the National Showcaves Centre for Wales is a great, educational school trip, offering a mix of learning, nature, and a fun day out for everyone.
