It’s brilliant for a rainy day, and especially good if you’ve got curious kids who like to ask why about everything.
You can easily make a full day of it by heading out around Cardiff Bay afterwards for a walk or getting the ferry to Bute Park.
If your kids are the type who like climbing, swinging and generally testing their limits, Go Ape is a fantastic shout.
Set in Margam Country Park, it’s all about rope bridges, zip wires and treetop obstacles. It’s active, slightly challenging, and great for building confidence.
It’s best suited to children aged 6+, but there are different levels depending on ability.
Plantasia is a great option when the Welsh weather isn’t playing ball. Fully indoors, it offers a warm, tropical escape filled with exotic plants, reptiles and small animals.

It’s a proper walk, so better for older children, but the reward is brilliant – multiple waterfalls, including one you can walk behind, which feels very Famous Five!
Just be prepared: it can get muddy, so decent footwear is a must.
Cantref Adventure Farm is a strong choice for families with younger children, offering a mix of indoor and outdoor activities in one place.
